ThumbnailTest — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026. Applies to the ThumbnailTest browser extension, version 0.1 (phase 1).

The short version

ThumbnailTest lets you preview two thumbnail images inside a mocked YouTube interface, entirely on your own device. It does not upload your images, send them to us or to any third party, or contact any server. There is no account, no server, no tracking, and no analytics.

How it works, and what it reads

When you choose or drag in a thumbnail image, the extension reads that image file locally in your browser and renders it inside a simulated YouTube layout (search results, recommended sidebar, and mobile). The images are never transmitted anywhere — there are no uploads and there is no server to upload to.

What is stored, and where

To carry the two images from the popup to the preview page, the extension stores — only in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device:

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted anywhere.

What ThumbnailTest does not do

Permissions, and why they are needed

Data deletion

Because all data is local, you can delete it at any time: upload new images to replace the previous ones, clear them in the extension, or remove the extension to delete all of its stored data from your device.
